Attorney Assaf Ben-David in Innsbruck

6/22/2022

Last week, Attorney Assaf Ben-David, LL.M, visited the University of Innsbruck to meet with colleagues and teach the course "International Business Negotiations". The course is a prime example of a virtual, international exchange format as it is taught from Israel and the US, while students in Innsbruck are negotiating with fellow students in China. While mostly being taught online, AIANI was happy that Assaf Ben-David could travel to Innsbruck
and teach two in-class lessons. Moreover, Assaf Ben-David met with colleagues and students from the
InnCubator and the Department of Legal Theory and Future of Law. They talked about current projects and possibilities for future collaborations in their research fields.

Dr. Noam Zadoff at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem

6/22/2022

On June 7, 2022, Dr. Noam Zadoff, Assistant Professor at the Department of Contemporary History at the University of Innsbruck, gave a lecture in Jerusalem on "The 'Semitic Action' and the Borders of Zionist Consensus After the Establishment of the State of Israel". The session took place at the Institute of Contemporary Jewry at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

The lecture was chaired by Prof. Assaf Shelleg, director of the Cherrick Center, and the respondents were Prof. Dmitry Shumsky and Maya Kreiner. At the center of the lecture stood a small group of intellectuals that pleaded for establishing a confederation between Israel and its Arab neighbors. The "Semitic Action" was motivated by strong anti-imperialist sentiments and criticized the tendency of Israeli governments to search for partners among the great western powers, instead of collaborating with the other inhabitants of the land. The lecture was followed by a vivid discussion about the borders of Zionist ideology after the establishment of Israel.
AIANI supported Dr. Zadoff's visit with a travel grant.
