Visit of Prof. Noam Shoval in Innsbruck

10/11/2016

Prof. Noam Shoval, Director of the European Forum at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem came to visit AIANI and the University of Innsbruck from October 5-8, 2016. Prof. Shoval, who is also Professor at the Department of Geography at HUJ, came by invitation of AIANI to discuss ways of cooperation between the European Forum, HUJ and the LFUI. Prof. Shoval conducted several meetings, including one with Rektor Tilmann Märk and held two guest lectures:"The Implementation of Tracking
Technologies for Tourism Research" and "The Urban Development of Jerusalem and its Geopolitical Future". The European Forum, and more specifically the Center for Austrian Studies at the EF, nominates the four Israeli students who come to the LFUI every summer on scholarships to participate in the Intensive German Courses. Prof. Shoval was appointed new Director of the EF in the fall of 2015 and it was his first visit to Innsbruck and the LFUI. Prof. Shoval´s visit will hopefully lead to some exchange programs, and new forms of collaboration between the two institutions in the near future. Two students from HUJ might be coming for a semester to the LFUI starting next fall. Also planned is exchange of lecturers, a joint conference, guest lectures as well as scholarships for PhD candidates and post-docs.
