On April 26, Prof. Perloff received an honorary doctorate by the University of Innsbruck. The ceremony was followed by a lecture of Prof. Perloff on "Returning to Innsbruck" in the auditorium of the university, where she described her escape in 1938 and her memories about the emigration and her days spent in Innsbruck. The talk was also based on her autobiographical work “Wien: America. Paradoxien einer Emigration.”
From April 18 to 26, 2016 Prof. Marjorie Perloff, one of the formost poetry scholars and critics visited the University of Innsbruck. Prof. Perloff was born 1931 in Vienna and was forced to emigrate 1938 with her family to the United States. The escape route took the family also through Innsbruck. During her visit in Innsbruck in April Prof. Perloff held several lectures at the university and joined a talk on Wittgenstein with Prof. Allan Janik from the research institute “Brenner Archiv”.
