During his stay in Innsbruck as AIANI-Guest Scientist, Dr. Haim Yacobi from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design held a public guest lecture with the title: “Israel/Africa. A Genealogy of Moral geography” in the Claudiasaal in the Old Town of Innsbruck. The guest lecture was very well received.
AIANI has initiated a “Guest Scientist Program” as a central pillar to promote the scientific exchange between Innsbruck and Israel. Israeli scientists are invited to spend up to two months as guest scientists in Innsbruck in order to work together with their local colleagues on collaborative research projects. In addition, they will teach classes and give public guest lectures. Their stay is financed by external funds provided by sponsors and donors. The first call for proposals for “AIANI-Guest Scientists” at the University of Innsbruck was announced in the Fall of 2013 and three projects were chosen to be realized in the Spring Semester of 2014.
The first AIANI-Guest Scientist was Dr. Haim Yacobi from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, who was invited by the Department of Architectural Theory and Building History of the University of Innsbruck (Prof. Bart Lootsma). Dr. Yacobi worked on a joint project entitled “Israeli Cities, Urbanism and Urbanity”. Dr. Yacobi also taught a seminar on “Israeli Cities, Urbanism and Urbanity” at the Department of Architectural Theory at the University of Innsbruck. Students studied and analyzed the social, political, and spatial characteristics of Israeli cities such as Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Ashdod and Lod. |
