On September 2, 2015 the Austria - Israel Academic Network Innsbruck organized the visit of Nobel Laureate Prof. Dan Shechtman from the Technion in Haifa at the University of Innsbruck. Prof. Shechtman received the Nobel Price of Chemistry in 2011 for the initially controversial discovery of Quasicrystals. After a short welcome by university representatives he signed the guest book of the university. The award-winning scientist from Israel also took the time to talk to colleagues. He met with students and gave them some personal advice on their scientific careers. Nobel laureate Shechtman ended his visit with a tour of the Center for Chemistry and Biochemistry (CCB) of the University of Innsbruck and the Medical University and a lunch with colleagues.
